Budget Fails to Address Key Issues: Dr. Ajoy Kumar

Congress leader criticizes government’s approach to youth employment and agriculture

Former MP Dr. Ajoy Kumar deems the 2024-25 Union Budget disappointing, claiming it overlooks crucial concerns of common citizens.

JAMSHEDPUR – Experienced Congressman and former Member of Parliament Dr. Ajoy Kumar has come out with strong words against the union budget and has expressed dissatisfaction of the recently released Union Budget for 2024–25.

Dr. Ajoy Kumar critiqued the Modi administration for supposedly using their budget proposals to deceive a significant percentage of youth and farmers and said that this would not serve the people of the country at all.

He also made the suggestion that the budget is like a "lollipop," meaning that it just addresses outward issues rather than their root causes.

A prominent member of Congress party and the Ex-MP of Jamshedpur, Dr. Ajoy, drew attention to the government’s unclear strategy for carrying out his party’s pledge of providing kids with guaranteed first jobs.

Dr. Kumar claims that rather than directly helping farmers, the budget’s agricultural measures appear to favor businesses that provide instruction in organic farming.

He stated that key needs of farmers, like free power, lower GST on farming equipment, and assurances of crop prices, are not sufficiently addressed by the budget.

A former Member of Parliament expressed alarm about the budget’s omission of MGNREGA, highlighting the program’s critical role in generating employment in rural areas.

Dr. Kumar also underlined the need of allocating more funds in the budget to the health and education sectors.

He further emphasized the apparent benefits granted to capitalists by drawing attention to the lack of significant income tax relief for salaried individuals.

"This budget is quite underwhelming and does not effectively tackle the main issues that the average person is facing," Dr. Kumar said.
