Jharkhand CM Explores Educational Collaboration with KIIT Founder

Soren and Samant discuss potential KISS branch in state, focusing on tribal education

Jharkhand aims to replicate Odisha’s successful model of empowering tribal youth through education and skill development.

RANCHI – Chief Minister Hemant Soren met with Dr. Achyuta Samant, founder of the KIIT Group of Institutions, to discuss educational improvements and development initiatives for Jharkhand.

The meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s residential office in Ranchi, centered on enhancing the quality of education in the state.

Soren and Samant explored the possibility of establishing a branch of the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) in Jharkhand.

The Chief Minister recalled his recent visit to Odisha, where he attended a KISS event and engaged in preliminary discussions about expanding the institution to Jharkhand.

"We aim to concretize plans for a KISS unit in our state by 2025," Soren stated, emphasizing his government’s commitment to the project.

Soren praised the KIIT Group’s contributions to education, recognizing their impactful work in the field.

This meeting follows Soren’s visit to Odisha in April last year, where he expressed admiration for KIIT and KISS.

Impressed by the 40,000-strong tribal student body at these institutions, Soren had announced his intention to create a similar facility in Jharkhand.

"We would not hesitate to provide support for a KISS-like institute in Jharkhand where students would receive skill and technical training," Soren had declared during his Odisha visit.

The Chief Minister believes such an institution could greatly benefit youth in naxal-affected areas, offering free access to education and skill development.

Soren’s initiative aims to replicate the successful model of empowering tribal youth through education, as demonstrated by KIIT and KISS in Odisha.

This collaboration could mark a significant step in Jharkhand’s educational landscape, potentially transforming opportunities for tribal students in the state.
