Demands include pay scale revisions and state employee status for educators.
JAMSHEDPUR – Mangal Kalindi, MLA from Jugsalai and JMM Chief Whip, has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Champai Soren addressing the concerns of assistant teachers in the region.
The memorandum, originating from the Assistant Teachers’ Association of Bodam and Patamda blocks in East Singhbhum district, outlines several key demands.
"We’re seeking pay scales and state employee status for assistant teachers comparable to those in minority schools," Kalindi stated during his meeting with the Chief Minister.
Key points in the memorandum include:
1. Implementation of pay scale (9300-34800) and state employee status
2. Provision of Employee Provident Fund benefits from January 2022
3. Resolution of issues related to the JTET exam and assessment results
4. Flexible compassionate appointment rules for dependents of assistant teachers
5. Extension of retirement age to 65 years, similar to Anganwadi workers
6. Recognition of CTET and JTET qualifications for benefits
Additionally, the memorandum calls for the formation of an Assistant Teacher Welfare Fund and resolution of pending cases against teachers from previous protests.
Kalindi emphasized the need to address the problems faced by assistant teachers in Naudeeha Chhattarpur, Palamu district, including payment of overdue honorariums.
The MLA’s advocacy highlights the ongoing challenges faced by educators in Jharkhand’s public school system.
This initiative by Kalindi reflects the JMM’s engagement with education sector issues in the state.
