JAMSHEDPUR – Golmuri police have uncovered a major cyber fraud ring targeting individuals living abroad, arresting six members of the gang on Saturday.
All six arrested suspects hail from Kolkata and were operating from a rented house in Golmuri.
The accused have been identified as Sandeep Ram, Tonup, Vivek, Manish, Saurabh, and Sahil.
Police have also detained a local youth from Golmuri for questioning in connection with the case.
The gang is believed to have defrauded victims of crores of rupees through their cyber scams.
One member of the group allegedly specialized in procuring information and phone numbers of potential foreign targets.
Sources reveal the gang had even attempted to target the Director General of Police (DGP) of Jharkhand.
The criminals were running their entire operation from the rented accommodation in Golmuri.
Police are expected to provide more details about the case in a press conference on Sunday.
This bust highlights the growing sophistication of cyber criminals operating in smaller cities.
Authorities are investigating possible links to larger international cybercrime networks.
