Heatwave Persists in Jharkhand, Monsoon Expected to Bring Relief by June 16-17

Daltonganj Records Highest Temperature at 46.5°C, Jamshedpur Sizzles at 44.2°C

Despite the presence of clouds in several districts of Kolhan and Jharkhand, the heatwave continues to trouble people throughout the state, offering no respite during both day and night.

RANCHI – According to the Meteorological Department, the scorching weather conditions are expected to persist until June 15.

Dr. Abhishek Anand, a meteorologist from the Ranchi Center, stated that while there is a possibility of drizzle in some districts of Jharkhand, people will only find relief from the intense heat after the arrival of the monsoon, which is anticipated to reach the state by June 16 and 17.

On Thursday, Daltonganj recorded the highest temperature in the state at a sweltering 46.5 degrees Celsius.

In Jamshedpur and its surrounding areas, the presence of clouds exacerbated the heat, making the situation miserable for residents.

The maximum temperature in Jamshedpur was recorded at 44.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature stood at 29.2 degrees Celsius.

The scorching heat has led to a silence prevailing on the Kharkai bridge during the afternoon hours.

Weather Forecast for Friday

The weather department has issued a red alert for heatwave conditions in five districts of Jharkhand, including Palamu, Garhwa, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Saraikela Kharsawan.

An orange alert has been issued for nine districts, indicating the likelihood of heatwave conditions in Latehar, Chatra, Koderma, Hazaribagh, Ranchi, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Giridih, and Dhanbad.

Furthermore, a yellow alert for heatwave has been issued in Latehar, Gumla, Simdega, and Khunti districts.

In view of the persistent heatwave, people have been advised to exercise caution and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the scorching heat.

As Jharkhand awaits the arrival of the monsoon, residents continue to grapple with the challenges posed by the unrelenting heatwave.

The state government and local authorities are expected to take measures to ensure the well-being of the population, particularly the vulnerable sections of society, during this period of extreme weather conditions.
