Meteorological Department Warns Of Cyclonic Circulation, Low Pressure Area Formation In Jharkhand And West Bengal
The Meteorological Department, Ranchi Center, has forecasted a change in weather due to cyclonic circulation in Jharkhand and the formation of a low pressure area in West Bengal, with the possibility of thunderstorms and rain from May 20 to 24.
RANCHI – The Meteorological Department, Ranchi Center, has issued a five-day forecast warning of a change in weather conditions in Jharkhand due to cyclonic circulation and the formation of a low pressure area in West Bengal, likely to bring thunderstorms and rain from May 20 to 24.
An orange alert has been issued for heavy rain on May 21 and 22, particularly in the north-eastern and central districts of the state, including Deoghar, Dhanbad, Dumka, Giridih, Godda, Jamtara, Pakur, Sahibganj, South East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Ranchi, Bokaro, Gumla, Hazaribagh, Khunti, and Ramgarh.
The Meteorological Department has also issued an immediate warning for light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in several districts, including Garhwa, Latehar, Lohardaga, Palamu, West Singhbhum, Gumla, Simdega, Khunti, and Seraikela-Kharsawan, by late Monday evening.
Wind speeds during this period are expected to reach 30-40 km per hour, with the potential to increase to 40-50 km per hour in some areas.
The department has urged people to be alert and cautious, advising them to take shelter in safe places, avoid staying under trees, and maintain a safe distance from electric poles.
On Monday, Garhwa recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 43.5 degrees Celsius, with seven districts experiencing temperatures above 40 degrees.
Jamshedpur’s maximum temperature was recorded at 40.1 degrees Celsius, while West Singhbhum and Seraikela recorded temperatures of 41.3 and 41.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The Meteorological Department’s forecast has raised concerns among residents, who are hoping for relief from the humid heat that has been prevalent in the state.
