Voter Participation Drive Takes Center Stage in Jamshedpur's Lok Sabha Election Buildup

District authorities harness the power of street theater to educate and engage citizens

With the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for Saturday, May 25, the District Public Relations Office in Jamshedpur has embarked on an innovative campaign to bolster voter turnout. Leveraging the captivating medium of street plays, known locally as Nukkad Natak, the authorities aim to instill a sense of civic responsibility and encourage active participation in the democratic process.

JAMSHEDPUR – As the countdown to the Lok Sabha elections on Saturday, May 25 begins, the District Public Relations Office has devised a creative approach to stimulate voter engagement. By employing the entertaining and thought-provoking format of street dramas, the campaign seeks to educate citizens about the importance of exercising their right to vote and inspire them to contribute to the electoral process.

Panchanan Oraon, the District Public Relations Officer, underscored the significance of conveying election-related information in the local language to ensure maximum comprehension and impact.

The street plays, performed regularly in Jamshedpur and its surrounding areas, deliver compelling messages that emphasize the need for voters to make independent and unbiased choices, resisting any form of enticement or pressure.

In addition to the live performances, the campaign heavily promotes the use of digital tools developed by the Election Commission to empower voters with easy access to crucial information.

Apps such as Know Your Candidate, which provides comprehensive profiles of contesting candidates, and the voter helpline app, which offers election-related assistance, are being widely publicized.

The Saksham app, designed to facilitate the participation of persons with disabilities, and the 1950 toll-free number for election-related queries are also being actively promoted.

By combining the engaging nature of street dramas with the convenience of technology, the District Public Relations Office aims to create an informed and enthusiastic electorate.

The campaign’s ultimate goal is to witness a substantial turnout on polling day, with citizens across all segments of society actively participating in the democratic exercise.

As the voter awareness drive gains traction, it is anticipated to have a profound impact on the level of civic engagement in Jamshedpur and its adjoining regions.

The District Public Relations Office remains steadfast in its commitment to nurturing an enlightened and proactive citizenry, recognizing the vital role that informed voters play in shaping the nation’s future.

With the Lok Sabha elections drawing near, the voter participation campaign serves as a powerful reminder of the collective responsibility to uphold and strengthen the democratic fabric of the country.
