Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Giridih, and Dhanbad Constituencies Witness Cancellations; 3 Candidates File Papers in Seventh Phase
The scrutiny of nomination papers filed for the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand has resulted in the cancellation of 22 candidates’ nominations, as announced by Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar.
RANCHI – In a significant development in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand, the nomination papers of 22 candidates have been rejected during the scrutiny process for the sixth phase of polling.
According to Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar, six nominations were rejected from the Ranchi parliamentary constituency, leaving 27 candidates in the fray.
Similarly, the Jamshedpur parliamentary constituency saw the cancellation of six nominations, with 26 candidates now remaining in the electoral battle.
The Giridih parliamentary constituency witnessed the highest number of cancellations, with seven candidates’ nominations being rejected, bringing the total number of candidates in the race to 18.
In the Dhanbad parliamentary constituency, three nominations were canceled, leaving 25 candidates in contention.
The last date for the withdrawal of nominations for the sixth phase is May 9, allowing candidates a final opportunity to reconsider their decision to contest.
As the election process moves forward, the seventh phase of elections has also commenced, with three candidates filing their nomination forms on the first day.
One nomination was filed from the Rajmahal (reserved for Scheduled Tribe) parliamentary constituency, while two candidates submitted their papers for the Godda parliamentary constituency.
However, the Dumka (reserved for Scheduled Tribe) parliamentary constituency did not receive any nominations on the first day of the seventh phase.
In a related development, the seizure of goods and cash in Jharkhand since the release of the election notification has surged from one billion to a staggering 1 billion 10 crore 36 lakh rupees.
As the election authorities maintain strict vigilance to prevent any malpractices, the substantial increase in seizures highlights the magnitude of the task at hand.
