Ramnivas Yadav Acts on Spot After Spotting Woman’s Distress

GIRIDIH – Giridih deputy commissioner Ramnivas Yadav took immediate notice of an elderly woman’s grievance at the Samaharnalaya complex on Tuesday, personally stepping in to resolve her problem.
The DC noticed the woman sitting at the complex and approached her himself. He inquired about her difficulties, needs, health and general wellbeing during the conversation.
The woman was identified as Kamala Devi, a resident of Budhudih village and post office, in Giridih district. During the conversation, she told the deputy commissioner that she had not yet received benefits under the pension scheme. She also informed him of her financial hardship.
On learning of her situation, the DC took the matter seriously and summoned the assistant director of social security to the spot. He directed the official to take immediate action on the case.
Yadav clearly instructed officials to verify the elderly woman’s eligibility and ensure she received pension scheme benefits within seven days. He also directed that if any pension amount was already pending, it should be paid without delay as per rules.
The deputy commissioner further instructed officials that eligible beneficiaries should face no unnecessary delay in receiving benefits under government welfare schemes. He said the problems of the elderly, differently abled, widows and other needy beneficiaries should be resolved on a priority basis.
The DC’s intervention has raised hopes that the elderly woman will soon receive her pension. It has also highlighted the administration’s responsiveness in resolving public grievances at the ground level.
Officials were told to ensure that the benefits of government schemes are not confined to paperwork but reach genuinely eligible beneficiaries in a time-bound manner.
Similar administrative interventions have been reported in the district recently. The Giridih deputy commissioner’s office had earlier been in focus over security preparations, including a flag march ahead of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, during which officials had also appealed to residents to report grievances directly to the administration.
Such welfare-related interventions come even as Giridih has seen other administrative and political developments in recent weeks. Opposition leader Babulal Marandi had earlier criticised the state government over a student clash in the district, while the JMM had also protested against the MMDR amendment bill in Giridih town.
