Gratuity Disbursed to Baldwin High School Teachers After Legal Struggle

14 Kadma Teachers Receive Gratuity Following DLC Court Decision

In a significant development, Deputy Labor Commissioner Rakesh Prasad has executed a gratuity payment of Rs 23,81,817 to 14 teachers of Baldwin High School in Kadma, concluding a lengthy legal ordeal.

JAMSHEDPUR – The resolution arrived after a series of legal challenges faced by the teachers, who were part of a group of 23 dismissed around the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The move to secure these payments began with the teachers seeking help from Raj Kishore Prasad, Joint Secretary of the Jharkhand State INTUC, which led to an unsuccessful negotiation with the school’s management.

The case was consequently taken to the DLC court in 2021 by then DLC Rajesh Prasad.

After a series of court hearings, a favorable ruling was issued, mandating the payment of gratuity, though the school management appealed the decision in 2023 to the Labor Commissioner in Ranchi.

This appeal was ultimately dismissed, affirming the original ruling, and ensuring the disbursement of the owed gratuity, marking a victory for the teachers involved.
