Investigation Uncovers Irregularities in Building Maps, Construction Compliance, and Parking Arrangements
A high-level committee, constituted by the Jharkhand High Court, has initiated an investigation into illegal constructions within the jurisdiction of the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC). The probe, which commenced on Saturday, received full cooperation from SDO Parul Singh and Jamshedpur NAC deputy municipal commissioner Krishna Kumar.
JAMSHEDPUR – A committee of legal experts, dispatched by the Jharkhand High Court, has launched an in-depth investigation into the alleged illegal constructions within the purview of the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC).
The probe, which began on Saturday, received the full support and cooperation of SDO Parul Singh and Jamshedpur NAC deputy municipal commissioner Krishna Kumar, ensuring a thorough examination of the matter.
Led by senior lawyer RN Sahay, along with advocates Sudarshan Shrivastava and Pandey Neeraj Rai, the committee meticulously scrutinized various establishments, including Hotel Center Point and Hotel Sonnet in the Bistupur area.
Their investigation unveiled a plethora of irregularities and non-compliance issues that raised serious concerns about the state of urban development in the city.
The committee delved into the intricacies of building maps, construction compliance, and parking arrangements, only to find glaring deficiencies in these crucial aspects.
It was observed that none of the buildings under scrutiny provided adequate parking spaces, resulting in increased congestion on the already bustling roads.
Moreover, the investigation revealed unauthorized commercial activities being carried out in basements and banquet halls, further compounding the issue of illegal constructions.
The legal team has pledged to compile a comprehensive report, detailing the findings of their investigation, which will be submitted to the Jharkhand High Court for further action.
SDO Parul Singh, in response to the ongoing probe, assured the investigation team of his department’s unwavering cooperation, emphasizing their commitment to adhering to the directives issued by the Jharkhand High Court.
He affirmed that all necessary documents would be provided to the committee and denied any shortcomings in their cooperation throughout the investigation process.
The genesis of this investigation can be traced back to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Rakesh Jha, a resident of Jamshedpur.
The PIL alleged the rampant proliferation of illegal constructions and the glaring absence of adequate parking facilities, purportedly facilitated by the connivance of Jamshedpur NAC, the administration, and the Tata Steel Land Department.
