JAMSHEDPUR – A significant partnership has been formed in Jamshedpur to address the healthcare needs of children born with clubfoot. This collaborative effort aims to align with the United Nations’ third Sustainable Development Goal, focusing on the well-being of underserved communities in remote locations.

The Clubfoot Elimination Project, a pioneering initiative, seeks to deliver complete treatment for children under two years of age afflicted with this condition over the next two years. It plans to operationalize a weekly clinic at Sadar Hospital for quality treatment accessible to all.

Training for healthcare providers on the Ponseti Method, outreach for patient identification, counselling sessions for families, and the provision of necessary braces during treatment maintenance are among the comprehensive measures outlined. Sourav Roy, representing Tata Steel Foundation, emphasized the importance of multi-disciplinary collaboration and thanked partners for their trust and support in launching this crucial healthcare initiative.

The MoU was signed in a ceremony attended by local health officials and representatives from the Tata Steel Foundation and Anushkaa Foundation, underscoring the commitment to improving child health in East Singhbhum. This agreement signifies a forward step in providing essential healthcare services to children with clubfoot in the district, made possible through the partnership between the district health authority of East Singhbhum, Tata Steel Foundation, and Anushkaa Foundation.
