Jharkhand Government Announces Significant Allowance Hike for Employees and Pensioners

RANCHI – The Jharkhand government has made a pivotal decision to increase the dearness allowance (DA) for its employees and dearness relief for pensioners to 50% of the basic pay, effective from January 1 of this year.

This announcement was made official in a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Champai Soren.

Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel revealed the DA and dearness relief increase, which will benefit over 1.90 lakh employees and pensioners in the state.

The timing of this decision coincides closely with a similar DA increase by the central government, amidst preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Extended Support for Forest Department and Educational Initiatives

To address the manpower shortage, the Jharkhand government will extend the service of retiring Forest Range Officers and Assistant Conservators of Forest by up to three years.

Significant investments include sanctioning approximately Rs 151 crore for constructing four degree colleges, enhancing educational infrastructure across various districts.

The cabinet has also approved evaluations for students from Classes 1-8 in government schools and introduced a monthly stipend for panchayat assistants, benefiting educational and community development.

Additional Cabinet Approvals Emphasize Social and Economic Development

Further cabinet decisions include linking BPL with the Chief Minister Teerth Darshan Scheme, expanding pilgrimage opportunities for the state’s residents.

A notable approval of Rs 105.29 crore for a new Jharkhand Bhawan in New Delhi marks a significant step towards enhancing the state’s representation.

Enhancements in educational support include an increase in the amount for purchasing textbooks for class 9 students in government schools.

Moreover, the transport allowance for state employees and officers has been increased, alongside the DA hike, showcasing a comprehensive approach to improving welfare and infrastructure in the state.
