Owners of M/s Mahalakshmi Medico in Mango sentenced for banned drug sales.

In a landmark decision, a Jamshedpur court has sentenced Ramesh Gupta and Aarti Gupta, owners of M/s Mahalakshmi Medico, to three years of rigorous imprisonment for selling banned and intoxicating drugs illegally.

JAMSHEDPUR – The court allowed Ramesh Gupta and Aarti Gupta a 30-day bail period post-sentencing.

Both were convicted and sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment.

The court based its decision on testimonies from 18 individuals.

Cozin and Alprazolam, drugs intended for sale strictly on prescription, were among the seized items.

A team, on the direction of the SDO Dhalbhum, had uncovered the illegal activities during a raid.

Drug Inspector Ramashish Kumar Jha had led the raid on August 24, 2015, that exposed the offense.

The court of ADJ-2 Abhash Verma pronounced the verdict after careful proceedings.

This followed the discovery of banned substances being sold without proper sales records at the establishment.
