JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel marks a significant milestone today as it receives the first batch of deliveries of next-generation, green-fuel-powered commercial vehicles from Tata Motors.
This initiative is part of Tata Group’s "Aalingana project" for a more sustainable future.
The vehicles aim to make Tata Steel’s operations cleaner.
They are a step towards achieving net-zero emissions.
Tata Steel was the pioneer in deploying EVs for steel transportation in India.
The company has used vehicles powered by alternative fuels in short lead road circuits.
Tata Steel also utilized bio-fuels and natural gas for import shipments.
In addition, it joined the Sea Cargo Charter to reduce the environmental impacts of global seaborne cargo.
Tata Motors has designed the new fleet with holistic solutions for functionality, performance, connectivity, and safety.
The vehicles include Prima tractor-trailers, tippers, and Ultra EV buses, equipped with safety features like ADAS.
N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, flagged off the vehicles during Tata Group’s Founder’s Day celebrations.
Safety and Technology Integration
The new fleet comes with ADAS, Electronic Stability Control, and other safety features.
These enhancements are set to benefit employee transport and the shipment of raw materials.
