Jharkhand MPs Seek Own Railway Zone
MPs appeal to Railway Minister for a dedicated railway zone in Jharkhand, citing state contributions.
Jharkhand’s parliamentary representatives have formally requested the establishment of a distinct railway zone for the state, highlighting its significant contributions to the railways.
JAMSHEDPUR – The request for a separate railway zone was initiated by a delegation of 13 MPs from Jharkhand, including Bidyut Baran Mahato.
They presented a memorandum to the Railway Minister, emphasizing Jharkhand’s substantial rail traffic and infrastructure development.
The MPs pointed out the operation of premier trains like the Vande Bharat Express in Jharkhand and the state’s sizable revenue from goods trains.
Asserting that a dedicated zone would enhance railway revenue, simplify management, and promote statewide development, the MPs made their case.
Ranchi, the state capital, was proposed as the ideal location for the new railway zone.
The appeal was made in the interest of public welfare, urging the Railway Minister to acknowledge the significance of their request.
Signatories of the memorandum include notable figures such as Jayant Sinha, Arjun Munda, and Annapurna Devi, representing a unified voice from Jharkhand.
