Jamshedpur MP Challenges FCI Worker Transfers

Bidyut Baran Mahato Advocates for 179 FCI Workers in Delhi

Jamshedpur MP addresses the arbitrary transfer of 179 FCI workers, highlighting potential government revenue loss and labor rule violations.

JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato took a stand in New Delhi today against the arbitrary transfer of 179 Food Corporation of India (FCI) workers from Jamshedpur, raising concerns with Union Minister Ashwini Choubey.

Mahato submitted a detailed letter to Choubey, outlining the issue of the workers’ transfer, which includes laborers shifted from Jamshedpur to Jasidih and Dhanbad, some of whom have been long-serving at their positions.

The MP emphasized that these transfers not only disregard labor rules but also replace permanent employees with contract labor, leading to increased costs for the government.

He pointed out the dual financial burden on the government, arising from paying both permanent employees and contract workers, underscoring the need for an urgent review and rectification of the situation.

The demand for an immediate revocation of the transfer orders was strongly put forth, along with a call for an investigation into the transfers and accountability for the management officials involved.

The discussion highlighted the plight of workers, including Sardar, Mandal, Handalan workers, and auxiliary staff, who have been adversely affected by the management’s decisions at FCI Bhandar, Jamshedpur.

Mahato’s advocacy reflects a broader concern over adherence to labor laws and the financial implications of current employment practices within FCI.

The move by the Jamshedpur MP signals a critical look at employment and transfer policies, aiming to safeguard workers’ rights and ensure efficient use of government resources.
