Court Allows Five More Days for ED Inquiry into Hemant Soren’s Alleged Land Scam
In a recent ruling, a special PMLA court has extended the ED’s custody of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, amid ongoing investigations into a land scam.
RANCHI – The FIR, addressing an 8.5-acre land case, stands as the central issue in the ongoing legal proceedings against Hemant Soren.
Advocate General Rajeev Ranjan criticized the ED’s attempt to widen the investigation’s scope beyond the original offence, asserting the agency’s lack of authority in such matters.
He highlighted the extensive interrogation Hemant Soren has already undergone, totaling 120 hours over five days, questioning the necessity of further remand.
Rajeev Ranjan reported that despite the ED’s request for a seven-day extension, the court granted only five, based on the argument that Soren had already been extensively questioned.
