Chilling Maoist Pamphlets Found at Murder Scene in Gudri
The murder of former Panchayat Up Pramukh Kamal Purti in Gudri district, claimed by CPI Maoists, raises alarm and fear in the region.
CHAIBASA – In a disturbing development in Gudri block, former panchayat Up Pramukh Kamal Purti fell victim to a brutal murder, with the Communist Party of India (CPI) Maoists claiming responsibility.
The insurgents accused Purti of being a police informer, leading to this tragic incident. Handwritten pamphlets found along the main road near Raigarha village reveal the Maoists‘ intentions to target those they perceive as Special Police Officers (SPOs) and inflict punishment.
Despite the gravity of the crime, the police team had not yet reached the scene, likely hindered by the challenges posed by the region’s Naxal insurgency.
Kamal Purti’s ordeal began on Monday afternoon when he left his rented residence in Sonua town, where he had relocated from his native village Rayagada due to Naxalite concerns. Around 11 am, he departed for what appeared to be routine errands.
However, his journey took a fatal turn when he encountered a Maoist squad. In a ruthless act, they shot him, leaving behind a pamphlet by his body as a grim marker of their deed.
The incident was only reported to the authorities in the evening by the alarmed family and local residents.
Law enforcement officials arrived at the scene today to recover Purti’s body.
Their inability to reach the spot on Monday, due to darkness, underscores the operational challenges in the Naxal-affected area.
The police are now set to interrogate local residents as part of their investigation into this heinous act.
The presence of Naxalites has profoundly impacted this once-peaceful region, instilling fear and unease among its residents.
The cold-blooded murder of Kamal Purti has not only brought grief but also reignited panic and insecurity in the area, as the locals grapple with the increasing threat of Naxalite violence.
