MP Koda Raises Concerns for Street Sellers’ Financial Aid in Winter Session

In a significant move during the winter session, Singhbhum MP Geeta Koda highlighted the plight of street vendors in her constituency affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Koda emphasized the need for financial support under the Prime Minister’s Street Vendor Self-reliant Fund, a part of the National Urban Livelihood Mission. This fund aims to provide monetary assistance to street sellers hard hit by the pandemic, offering them a lifeline to rebuild and expand their businesses.

CHAIBASA – During the winter session of Parliament, Singhbhum MP Geeta Koda brought attention to the financial struggles of street vendors in her constituency.

Affected by the Corona outbreak, these vendors are in dire need of support.

The government’s initiative under the National Urban Livelihood Mission was highlighted.

The Prime Minister’s Street Vendor Self-reliant Fund offers financial aid to these vendors.

Koda emphasized the need for subsidized loans to help vendors grow their businesses.

She urged the government to consider those unable to repay these loans.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla defended Koda’s concerns, underscoring their importance.

Koda also called for greater public awareness of the program.

The aim is to extend the program’s benefits to more homeless street vendors.
