Recognition of Excellence at Tata Steel’s APEX TQM Awards Nite 2023
Tata Steel’s APEX TQM Awards Nite 2023 was a grand celebration of continuous improvement and excellence at Keenan Stadium.
JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel organized the APEX TQM Awards Nite 2023, a prestigious event recognizing the best in improvement projects, IMPACT Centres, and Knowledge Management (KM) divisions for the financial year 2023.
The event, held at Keenan Stadium, showcased the top 75 projects selected from over 7,000 entries from ASPIRE & Shikhar25 methodologies, along with the best 3 Impact Centres and KM divisions.
The event’s chief guest, T V Narendran, CEO & Managing Director of Tata Steel, and Avneesh Gupta, Vice President of TQM and Engineering & Projects, Tata Steel, graced the occasion to present the awards.
The theme ‘Towards Gemba Focused Excellence’, initiated in 2022, continued into 2023, emphasizing reconnection with the shop floor and improvement in safety, quality, and workplace vibrancy.
Tripti Srivastava, Chief TQM & CQA at Tata Steel, welcomed attendees and highlighted the major milestones of the past financial year.
Avneesh Gupta presented the first set of awards, praising the scale, quality, and diversity of the projects and participants. He reflected on Tata Steel’s journey of continuous improvement since the 1990s, emphasizing the company’s commitment to world-class leadership through excellence.
T V Narendran distributed the second set of awards and released the 6th edition of the EDGECAST book, a compilation of outstanding improvement cases from FY 23. He emphasized the importance of active listening and staying connected with stakeholders for Gemba Focused Excellence.
The evening also featured cultural performances, including a skit titled ‘Vividhta – Ghar se Mill tak’ by Tata Steel employees on diversity and inclusion, and a dance by Golden Girls, finalists of India’s Got Talent Season 10, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
According to Tata Steel officials, this event highlighted Tata Steel’s dedication to fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement across its operations.
