High-Level Meeting Addresses Drinking Water Issues in Kolhan Region

A high-level meeting took place to address drinking water issues in the Kolhan region, focusing on water conservation, plastic-free villages, and summer water supply concerns.

Jamshedpur: A high-level meeting was held on Tuesday to tackle drinking water problems in the Kolhan region, chaired by Manish Ranjan, Secretary of the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation.

The meeting, which occurred at Auto Cluster Auditorium in Gamharia, aimed to eliminate water issues across all districts in the Kolhan division during the summer season, as temperatures rise.

Discussions included water conservation, constructing plastic-free villages, and organizing plastic collection at the village level. Ranjan emphasized the need for dedicated teams and control rooms to handle drinking water crises during the summer months. He suggested providing a control room number for residents to report problems and called for the resolution of any drinking water supply issues within 72 hours.

Ranjan also reviewed ongoing projects across various districts and provided guidance to the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department’s Executive Engineers. In the divisional level meeting, he discussed the progress of different schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin). Ranjan urged officers to complete these initiatives efficiently and on time to benefit the public.

Neha Arora, Director of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural), highlighted the importance of motivating ODF Plus beneficiaries to repair toilets themselves. She also instructed district, block, and panchayat-level officials to ensure training for ODF Plus.
