Tara Singh Gill is New Pradhan of Sonari Gurudwara in Jamshedpur, Defeats Younger Brother Balbir Singh Gill in election
Tara Singh Gill wins Sonari Gurdwara head election in Jamshedpur, defeating younger brother Balbir Singh Gill by 36 votes in a peaceful process.
Jamshedpur: Tara Singh Gill emerged victorious in the election for the post of pradhan of Sonari Gurdwara in Jamshedpur on Sunday, defeating his younger brother, Balbir Singh Gill, by 36 votes.
Tara Singh secured 175 votes, while Balbir Singh received 139 votes.
Out of a total of 389 eligible voters, 320 cast their votes by 3 pm.
Five votes were declared invalid. Counting began at 3:15 pm, and the winner was announced shortly thereafter.
Upon winning the election, Tara Singh was hoisted onto the shoulders of his supporters and proceeded to the Guru’s Darbar to pay his respects, where Balbir Singh, the defeated candidate, was also present.
Voting for the pradhan’s post commenced at 9 am on Sunday, with Tara Singh casting the first vote and Balbir Singh casting the second.
The polling process continued smoothly until 3 pm.
Key members of the Central Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, including head Bhagwan Singh, general secretary Amarjit Singh, and others, visited the polling site at 11:30 am for inspection.
Amarjit Singh Bhamra, Parvinder Singh Sohal, and Gurcharan Singh Billa were appointed as convenors by the CGPC.
They were accompanied by Dalwinder Singh, former Manifit pradhan Surjit Singh, and Taranpreet Singh Banni.
Polling agents for Tara Singh included Sukhwinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh, and GS Golan, while Baldev Singh, Amarjit Singh, and Harjit Singh Master represented Balbir Singh.
