Jamshedpur Hosts Traditional Chhattisgarhi Doll Wedding to Preserve Cultural Heritage

Mini India’s Jamshedpur celebrates traditional doll wedding, educating youth on marital rituals & preserving Chhattisgarhi cultural heritage.

Jamshedpur, known as Mini India, on Monday celebrated a unique social tradition – the marriage of dolls. The Chhattisgarhi community, which has a significant population in the city, organized this event at Bhalubasha Maidan.

The doll wedding marks the arrival of crops in the barn and helps children transitioning into adolescence and understand marital rituals.

The event featured various wedding customs, including turmeric ceremonies, garlands, Kanyadan, and welcoming the wedding procession.

It is believed that participating in these rituals brings happiness to the married life of children and prosperity to their families.

This is the second time Jamshedpur has hosted a doll wedding, and the Chhattisgarhi community plans to continue this cultural tradition in the future.

Women from the society referred to it as a traditional custom and praised the event’s grandeur.
