Elaborate security measures in Jamshedpur’s Shastri Nagar, BJP mulls next move on Abhay Singh arrest issue

Jamshedpur: With the Union Minister Arjun Munda firing the first salvo at the state government by complaining of lack of ‘protocol’ extended to him and criticizing the arrest of BJP leader Abhay Singh and VHP activists as ‘politically motivated’, the BJP leadership seems to be in no mood to let the issue of Abhay Singh’s arrest settle down.

The party is now mulling its next move and is likely to launch an agitation to press for release of arrested BJP leaders and VHP activists.

Meanwhile, the district police have made elaborate security arrangements in Kadma Shashtri Nagar area.

Life has almost returned to normalcy.

However, the police are keen on ensuring that no repeat of the earlier incident takes place.

An elaborate network of CCTV cameras has been installed at the Kadma Shastri Nagar Block No. 3 roundabout, following an examination of the area and identification of key locations for camera placement.

There are also plans to install CCTV cameras in additional sensitive areas throughout the city. Despite the easing of tension in the area, police and a magistrate remain present, and the situation is gradually returning to normal.

Among those arrested in the Kadma Shashtri Nagar violence are BJP politician Abhay Singh, advocate Chandan Chaturvedi, and Sudhanshu Ojha.

On the other hand, the BJP state leadership has decided to launch an agitation to highlight the anomalies in the arrest of its leader Abhay Singh and VHP activists.

Arjun Munda, and earlier, the state BJP president Deepak Prakash and other leaders had termed the arrests as ‘done under political pressure’.

The party leaders have made it clear that they are keen on raising the issue in a big way.

Arjun Munda has already signaled the political intent by firing the first salvo in the form of complaint about ‘lack of protocol’.

The political differences between the ruling mahagathbandhan and BJP is likely to deepen in the days to come.

The BJP leaders have also hinted that if necessary they would fight the arrest of its leaders and activists on several fronts, including the legal one.

It would be interesting to see what turn the differences take in the days to come.
