Jharkhand Governor recognises Tata Steel Foundation for efforts towards Public Health

Jamshedpur: The Governor of Jharkhand, CP Radhakrishnan applauded Tata Steel Foundation’s efforts towards identifying and providing nutritional support to Tuberculosis (TB) patients across 24 blocks in Jharkhand and Odisha.

Dr Anuj Bhatnagar, Head of Public Health department at the Tata Steel Foundation received the the award from the honourable Governor.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chanakya Chaudhary, Director, Tata Steel Foundation and Vice President, Corporate services, Tata Steel said, ““It is our honour to be recognised by the honourable Governor of Jharkhand for our effort towards TB eradication in the state. This reaffirms our faith in the work that we do and the trust that our communities repose in us. We will continue our pursuits in bettering public health through need-based assistance and support across our operational areas.

Public Health is a fast-growing sector wherein Tata Steel Foundation endeavors to promote better health care by creating better infrastructure and look at a portfolio of preventive diseases. Collaborative efforts with the government therefore enable to carry this effort to the right persons at their doorsteps. The Foundation recently marked 10 years of Mother and Newborn Survival Initiative (MANSI) and is presently entering the next phase to teach our target of SDG 3 across the areas it operates.

In addition, the Foundation works towards communities across Jharkhand and Odisha on need-based assistance through several programmes on – health, education, livelihood, and such other necessary requirements.

TSF has taken 24 blocks of Jharkhand and Odisha as part of Ni-kshay Mitra project. The objective of this project is supporting all Consenting TB patients of adopted blocks with Monthly Food Basket Kit. The project is effective from November 2022 to October 2023. So far 6587 such kits have been provided to the beneficiaries.

The concerned districts in Jharkhand included Potka (East Singhbhum), Kuchai and Kharsawan (Seraikela-Kharsawan), Barajamda and Goilkera (West Singhbhum), Mandu and Gola (Ramgarh), Baghmara (Dhanbad) and various blocks of different districts of Odisha.
