Bank employees prepare for 2-day strike on March 15-16 against privatisation policy

Jamshedpur: Bank employees’ organizations have announced a nationwide strike against the privatisation policy of the central government on March 15 and 16.

Bankers’ organisations say that almost every section of the country is being harmed by and is agitating against the policies of the central government.

They pointed out that starting from farmers to labourers, students to youths, each class has started agitating to protect its interests.

Bank unions said that the Union Finance Ministry was directly responsible for the plight of the banks.

Bank unions are also protesting privatisation and merger of banks. On Friday, United Forum of Bank Union held a protest and appealed to citizens to participate in the nationwide strike on March 15 and 16.

Significantly, 10 lakh bank employees and officials of nine unions across the country have been protesting against the central government in a phased manner. At the same time, bankers have also criticised the central government for the farmers’ agitation and the rising unemployment in the country.
