Excise Dept destroys expired liquor worth Rs. 2 cr

Jamshedpur: TheExcise Department of East Singhbhum district today destroyed more than 16,000 boxes of expired liquor seized from different beer bars and liquor shops of Jamshedpur and other parts of the district.

The liquor destroyed by the excised department was estimated to be of Rs. 2 cr in value.

The expired stock of liquor was destroyed on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner at JSBCL depot at Bhilai Pahadi near NH33 a few kms off Jamshedpur.

All the 16 thousand boxes of liquor were brought to the depot and then JCB was used on them to crush them completely.

The Excise Department had received information that expired beers were being sold on a large scale by liquor shops on the sly. The DC took cognisance of the matter and issued instructions to destroy all the expired liquor to ensure that expired liquor causes no health damage to the general masses.
