Intuc: Rakeshwar Pandey faces stiff opposition

Jamshedpur: Opposition against union leader Rakeshwar Pandeyś recent appointment as state Intuc president is gaining momentum.

Leading the opposition faction, Shiv Mangal Singh alias Anoop Singh, son of former Intuc president Rajendra Singh, is going all-out to garner support from other ´like-minded´ leaders in the organization.

Sources said Anoop Singh was busy huddling with senior Intuc leaders when Pandey was being welcomed by his supporters following his appointment.

The state Intuc president post fell vacant recently after the death of Congress leader Rajendra Singh. National Intuc president G Sanjeeva Reddy had nominated Rakeshwar Pandey on the post.

After Pandeyś appointment, an interim committee was formed. A majority of committee members are Pandeyś supporters and close associates, sources said.

Although the committee includes Raghunath Pandey, TWU president R Ravi Prasad, BK Dinda and Gurmeet Singh Tote, Anoop Singh wants the appointment to be made through election and not nomination.

However, Former TWU presidents RBB Singh and PN Singh have been kept out of the committee.
