ED Uncovers Rs 1250 Crore Illegal Mining in Sahibganj

Joint Inspections Reveal Massive Illegal Mining and Deforestation in Jharkhand

The Enforcement Directorate’s investigation in Sahibganj, Jharkhand, exposes illegal mining activities worth Rs 1250 crore, raising environmental concerns.

RANCHI – The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has revealed a massive illegal mining operation in the Sahibganj area of Jharkhand, estimated to be worth Rs 1250 crore.

This significant discovery was made through a series of 20 joint inspections conducted in collaboration with Jharkhand government officials.

The investigation not only highlights the scale of the illegal mining but also sheds light on severe deforestation, posing a critical environmental threat.

Over 23.26 crore cubic feet of illegal mining has been identified in the region, indicating extensive environmental and ecological damage.

The estimated market value of the illegally mined material is a staggering Rs 1250 crore, emphasizing the enormity of the illicit operations.

These findings underline the urgency to address and mitigate such practices, which are depleting natural resources and severely impacting the ecosystem.

The joint inspections and collaborative efforts between the ED and Jharkhand government are crucial steps in tackling such environmentally detrimental activities.

The case in Sahibganj is a stark reminder of the need for stringent measures to protect natural habitats and prevent illegal exploitation of resources.

Efforts to curb illegal mining are essential for preserving ecological balance and ensuring sustainable use of land and forest areas.
