Wild Elephant Leads Procession in Ranchi’s Lapung

Unexpected Leader: Wild Elephant Draws Crowd in Lapung’s Navatoli Village

In a bizarre turn of events, a wild elephant became the leader of a procession in Ranchi’s Lapung block, captivating hundreds of villagers.

RANCHI – An extraordinary incident unfolded in the Lapung block of Ranchi as a wild elephant unexpectedly led a procession, captivating hundreds of villagers in its wake.

This unique event took place on the morning of December 25, primarily in the Sarsa region, and spanned several areas, including Navatoli village.

The incident began when a group of women collecting wood in the forest encountered a massive wild elephant.

Undeterred, the elephant journeyed from the Hisri village forest in the Karra block, passing through Daranda Chowk and Kakaria Bedo road, and finally arrived in Navatoli of Latratu Panchayat around 7:00 a.m.

News of the elephant’s presence spread quickly, attracting a large crowd of curious and excited onlookers.

What started as a startled response soon turned into a spirited chase, with the crowd enthusiastically following the elephant over a distance of approximately five kilometers.

Videos of this unusual procession were widely shared among the crowd, documenting this rare occurrence.

Despite the elephant’s occasional attempts to turn back, the villagers’ persistence and noise encouraged it to keep moving forward.

Notable community figures, including former chief Santosh Tirkey and social worker Dashrath Tirkey, were part of this extraordinary event.

The villagers ultimately guided the elephant away from Bedo and towards the Hulsi forest via Kakaria road.

This incident, a testament to the sometimes harmonious coexistence of humans and wildlife, has become an unforgettable part of local folklore.
