– Misinformation about blast furnace led to unnecessary panic.

Tata Steel secured major orders, including 290 KT steel for Tata Motors.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel’s Managing Director and CEO, TV Narendran, warned employees about the consequences of spreading false information and videos, which can harm the company’s reputation.

Speaking during the "MD Online" session, Narendran emphasized that sharing incorrect media can create panic, especially for a listed company like Tata Steel.

He cited a recent incident where a routine fire at the blast furnace after a power outage was misinterpreted as a major accident, leading to widespread concern even in other countries.

Narendran highlighted the importance of ethical behavior and stressed that such actions could result in legal consequences.

On the positive side, he shared updates on Tata Steel’s performance, revealing that the company had received significant orders.

This includes a 290-kiloton steel supply for Tata Motors’ new Tata Curve model and the Zero PPM and Zero Defect Award from Toyota.

Additionally, Tata Steel’s Tube Division secured an order to supply structural tubes for Andhra Pradesh’s international airport.

Narendran also addressed concerns raised by employees from the Tata Steel Meramandali plant.

He assured that road repairs to the plant are being discussed with the government and that air-conditioned bus services for employees will start soon.

Responding to a question about leave policies, HR VP Atrayee Sanyal confirmed that from January 1, 2025, Meramandali employees will have leave policies aligned with Tata Steel.
