Vocational Training Centre Empowers Youth in Southern Odisha

TPSODL’s VTC in Aska Transforms Lives, Offers Employment Opportunities

TPSODL’s Vocational Training Centre in Aska is transforming lives by providing invaluable skills and employment opportunities to the youth of Southern Odisha, driving regional development and prosperity.

BERHAMPUR – The Vocational Training Centre (VTC) in Aska, established by TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL), is transforming lives and futures by providing invaluable skills and employment opportunities to the youth of Southern Odisha.

Pabitra Sahoo, a student at the VTC, shared, “I had no knowledge of welding or TPSODL’s VTC.

Then, a chance encounter with the TPSODL team changed everything.

Their orientation programs were phenomenal, instilling trust and hope within me.

They addressed all my queries sincerely and offered deep insights.

Joining the VTC was a life-altering decision.

Seniors from the VTC are now thriving in reputed industries, and I aspire to achieve the same.”

The impact of TPSODL’s Vocational Training Centre is nothing short of transformative.

The skill development programs extend beyond individual growth, creating positive changes in families, society, and the local economy.

TPSODL’s efforts infuse hope and promise, empowering youth to become self-reliant and influential contributors to their communities.

Amit Kumar Garg, CEO of TPSODL, remarked, “Our Vocational Training Centre rises above the notion of a mere training facility; it is a symbol of profound hope and empowerment for the youth of Southern Odisha.

By equipping them with vital skills and employment opportunities, TPSODL is not only transforming individual lives but also driving the region’s overall development and prosperity.”

In Southern Odisha, TPSODL’s role extends beyond power distribution.

The company is cultivating a generation of empowered youth to be the future workforce and invaluable human resources.

The VTC in Aska primarily targets the youth of Aska and Dharakote blocks, selected through comprehensive village surveys and orientation camps.

Initial career orientation videos and Level One assessments set the foundation.

Youth aged 14 or below receive Level One certification but await Level Two training until they turn 18.

For those aged 18 and above, the VTC offers robust courses in welding, covering SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), plasma cutting, gas tungsten arc welding, and oxy-acetylene gas welding training.

The 570-hour training program includes mandatory on-the-job training and assured placement opportunities.

Graduates secure positions in major industries like Odisha’s JSW, Honda, and IFB Automobiles in Bangalore, among others.

Collaborations with local employers ensure that every trained student embarks on a promising career path.

The VTC successfully trains 9-10 batches of students annually.

Additionally, TPSODL will introduce training in the "Plumbing" trade for youths this financial year.

This training will follow a community training model, where the company will reach out to villages and provide the training directly to the youths.
