Key Points:

- Promises new health sub-centres, women’s college, and anti-flood measures
- Central govt welfare schemes to reach every ward via mobile vans
JAMSHEDPUR – Vinay Jaiswal, former state president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Jharkhand, elaborated on the manifesto of BJP-NDA-backed Mango mayoral candidate Sandhya Singh at a press conference held at the election office in Mango on Thursday.
The press conference was also attended by Mango mayoral candidate Sandhya Singh, coordination committee convenor Ganga Sahu, BJP district media in-charge Prem Jha, BJYM state secretary Amit Agarwal, and Ramgarh district in-charge of the Youth Wing, Tanmay Jha.
Jaiswal described the manifesto as a roadmap for a prosperous, clean, and transparently governed Mango. He said daily waste collection would be carried out in all wards. In addition, regular drain cleaning, bleaching powder spraying, and permanent fogging arrangements to eliminate mosquitoes were among the key sanitation commitments.
On traffic management, he said public cooperation would be sought to bring order to Mango’s congested roads. Meanwhile, large-scale tree plantation drives were also promised to restore environmental balance in the area.
On the health front, new sub-centres were to be established across the municipal limits. Moreover, existing facilities were to be renovated and doctor availability ensured. The manifesto also committed to addressing the absence of a women’s higher secondary school or college in Mango.
Piped drinking water supply to remaining households and regular water quality testing were also among the listed promises. On the infrastructure side, the manifesto pledged road and drain repair across the entire municipal area, construction in new zones, improved sewerage, underground cabling, new street lights, and light towers.
The manifesto also committed to developing vendor zones with parking for vegetable and retail sellers, a stadium, a town hall, children’s parks, youth sports grounds, and senior citizen meeting spaces.
Jaiswal asserted that Mango would be made free from crime and drug abuse under Sandhya Singh’s leadership. A women’s police station and pink patrolling arrangements were promised for women’s safety. Women’s self-help groups were to be formed and linked to employment opportunities. In addition, a fire and disaster management centre was also proposed, given the area’s growing population.
Permanent measures to tackle flooding and waterlogging during the monsoon season were also part of the Mango election manifesto. On education, environment committees and “Paryavaran Mitra” units were to be set up in both private and government schools in coordination with the forest department. Teachers were to be arranged from the primary to higher education level.
The manifesto further committed to seeking a review from the state government on what Jaiswal described as an unexpectedly steep hike in holding tax. He also promised to maximise the reach of central government welfare schemes, including PM SVANidhi, PM Vishwakarma Yojana, and PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana.
Mobile vans were to visit every ward to facilitate the issuance of Ayushman cards, voter cards, ration cards, old-age and widow pensions, e-Shram cards, and ABHA cards, according to the manifesto.
Speaking on the political context, Jaiswal said the Jharkhand government had failed on every front, with crime rising and the law-and-order situation deteriorating across the state. He expressed confidence that voters in the Mango municipal polls would send a strong message to the state government by voting for the camera symbol — the election symbol of Sandhya Singh.
The Mango municipal election has been long delayed, with a 24-year gap having cost the area an estimated Rs 14,400 crore in development funds, according to earlier reports. The Jharkhand High Court had previously sought action to expedite the municipal election process in the state.
