SERAIKELA – JLKM party workers organized a torch rally in Chandil demanding Tarun Mahato’s release on Sunday evening.

The procession started from Lengdih Arjun Tal area. Moreover, it concluded at Chandil Station with large participation. Hundreds of men and women joined the demonstration.

Tarun Mahato leads Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha operations locally. Police arrested him on November 18 late night. However, the incident occurred at Dumtand Mor under Ichagarh jurisdiction.

The arrest followed protests against illegal sand transportation. JLKM supporters accused police of nexus with sand mafia. Besides, they raised slogans demanding their leader’s immediate release.

Protesters chanted “Release Tarun Mahato” throughout the march. Meanwhile, they alleged police-mafia collusion in illegal mining. On the other hand, authorities maintained law and order concerns.

Police detained Mahato while he attempted stopping illegal sand trucks. Officers claimed they arrived to prevent illegal extortion. However, crowd allegedly attacked police personnel during the operation.

Two policemen sustained injuries in the confrontation. The incident sparked ongoing protests across the region. Moreover, villagers accused administration of inhumane treatment.

Bhanumati Mahato, wife of the detained leader, addressed protesters. She stated her husband helped stop 100-150 trucks. However, police arrested him without valid grounds, she claimed.

The party demanded Mahato’s immediate release from custody. In addition, they sought action against responsible police officials. Furthermore, station in-charge faces accountability demands from demonstrators.

JLKM workers plan continued protests across multiple police stations. Meanwhile, authorities increased security deployment in affected areas. On the other hand, police initiated investigation into the matter.

Chandil area has witnessed several protests recently. Local communities frequently raise grievances against illegal activities. Besides, transportation-related disputes have triggered demonstrations before.

The illegal sand mining issue remains contentious in Seraikela district. However, enforcement actions often spark community resistance. Moreover, local populations demand transparent administrative procedures.

Chandil residents have history of organized movements. The current agitation follows established patterns of community mobilization. Furthermore, party workers maintain pressure through sustained demonstrations.
