JAMSHEDPUR – The Tuiladungri Durga Puja Committee’s grand pandal was inaugurated with rituals led by Transport Minister Deepak Birua.
The inauguration involved lighting a ceremonial lamp and breaking a coconut. Meanwhile, Jugsalai MLA Mangal Kalindi, former MLA Kunal Sarangi, Minority Commission Chairman Hidayatullah Khan, and Mohan Karmakar were also present.
Birua stated that Durga Puja represents the triumph of good over evil. He recalled the celebration of Goddess Durga’s victory over Mahishasur. According to him, it remains one of the most significant Hindu festivals in eastern India.
Besides, he highlighted Jamshedpur’s unique spirit during the festival. He said devotees gather in lakhs, walking all night to witness the pandals.
General Secretary Dinesh Kumar explained the eco-friendly concept. He informed that both the pandal and the idol were designed with sustainability in mind. He added that around ₹20 lakh had been spent on the construction.
In addition, Kumar mentioned that the pandal was opened for devotees from today. However, a large team of workers has been deployed to assist visitors. “Our volunteers will ensure the convenience of every devotee,” a committee member remarked.
