JAMSHEDPUR – A worker’s family continues protesting with the deceased’s body for 72 hours at Tuffseal India Private Limited factory gate in Adityapur Industrial Area Phase 3 after permanent laborer Yogen Gorai died during work hours.
Yogen Gorai, aged 47, died while working at the company. The incident occurred at the industrial facility in Seraikela district. Company management took no cognizance despite receiving information about the death.
JLKEM leader Prem Mardi received news of the incident. He reached MGM Hospital with his team members. Moreover, they took the body and staged a sit-in protest at the company gate.
Prem Mardi demanded Rs 20 lakh compensation for the deceased’s dependents. He also sought employment for one family member. In addition, he requested the company to take responsibility for children’s maintenance.
Talks were held between union representatives and company management. The company provided assurances during negotiations. However, workers refused to trust the management’s promises.
Three full days have passed since the protest began. The final rites of the deceased could not be performed. Furthermore, the company management’s humanity has come under question.
The worker’s family continues waiting for justice. They remain stationed at the factory premises with the body. Meanwhile, the industrial accident has highlighted workplace safety concerns.
The incident has raised questions about worker welfare measures. Company officials have not taken adequate steps for compensation. Besides, the prolonged protest demonstrates the family’s desperation for justice.
