Employees Protest in Jamshedpur Over ACP-MSP Benefits

University Employees Stage Demonstration Against Recent Crackdown

Jamshedpur employees protest for age relaxation and ACP-MSP benefits following alleged police action.

Key Points:

  • Protests erupted at Jamshedpur Cooperative College over ACP-MSP benefits.
  • Demonstrators condemned the crackdown during their January 10 protest.
  • Statewide symbolic strikes planned for January 15 and 16.

JAMSHEDPUR – Employees across state colleges have initiated a symbolic strike following an alleged crackdown during their January 10 protest. Organized by the Sidho-Kanhu University Employees’ Federation, demonstrators demand age relaxation to 62 years and ACP-MSP benefits.

The employees accuse university authorities of forcibly breaking protest sites and orchestrating police action. Chandan Kumar, General Secretary of Kolhan Division’s Employees Federation, warned of intensified actions if demands remain unmet.

Alleged Mismanagement and Police Action

On January 10, employees gathered peacefully at Sidho-Kanhu University, only to face alleged forcible dispersal. Protesters claim the administration ordered locks to be broken and involved police for a lathi charge.

Broader Statewide Support

Today and tomorrow, similar strikes are expected across government colleges. Employees call for the government and university to honor their promises.

“These actions show the urgency of resolving issues,” said Chandan Kumar. “Ignoring us could lead to major disruptions.”

Implications for Future Protests

The employees’ federation has cautioned that unless immediate actions are taken, more aggressive demonstrations could follow.
