SERAIKELA – To streamline the legal availability of sand and curb illegal mining, the Jharkhand State Mineral Development Corporation launched two sand mining sites in Seraikela’s Chandil subdivision on Monday. These sites, located in Sodo and Jaragodih under the Ichagarh police station, were inaugurated by Dr. Om Prakash, the sand in-charge.

Ensuring Sand Supply For Residents

The newly established sites aim to meet the growing demand for sand in the region while reducing the scope of black marketing. Dr. Om Prakash emphasized that the operations, to be managed by Anil Khirwal, would ensure a steady supply of legally available sand. “We hope this step will completely halt illegal trading,” he stated, appealing to residents to procure sand solely from the licensed depots.

First Sand Depot In Seraikela

The inauguration marks a significant milestone as it is the district’s first-ever authorized sand depot. The occasion witnessed participation from local leaders, including Zila Parishad members, Panchayat leaders, and social activists. Community members appreciated the initiative, noting its potential to bring transparency and fair practices to sand mining.

A Step Toward Regulated Mining

With this development, the state government aims to address long-standing issues associated with sand scarcity and unlawful extraction. The initiative is expected to set a precedent for similar setups across Jharkhand, furthering sustainable mining practices.
