JMM Sweeps East Singhbhum, BJP Retains Jamshedpur East Seat

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has once again established its dominance in East Singhbhum by winning four out of the six Assembly seats declared so far. In a significant outcome, BJP’s Purnima Sahu emerged victorious in Jamshedpur East, defeating Congress candidate Dr. Ajoy Kumar by a massive margin of over 47,000 votes.

The counting of votes, conducted at Jamshedpur Cooperative College, marked a dramatic contest in the Jamshedpur East constituency. BJP’s Purnima Sahu secured a resounding win, while independent candidate Shivshankar Singh could not cross the 10,000-vote mark.

In the Jugsalai constituency, JMM’s incumbent MLA Mangal Kalindi retained his seat with a decisive victory, defeating AJSU candidate Ramchandra Sahis by more than 40,000 votes.

Similarly, Potka saw JMM’s Sanjeev Sardar triumph over BJP’s Meera Munda by approximately 18,000 votes, ensuring the party’s continued presence in this key constituency.

In Ghatshila, sitting MLA Ramdas Soren defeated BJP’s Baboolal Soren, son of former CM Champai Soren, by over 20,000 votes. The Baharagora seat also stayed with JMM as Samir Mohanty defeated BJP’s Dr. Dineshanand Goswami with a similar margin.

The only remaining constituency, Jamshedpur West, is witnessing a tough battle, with JD(U) candidate Saryu Roy leading Congress’s Banna Gupta by around 38,000 votes as counting continues.
