Election Commission Ensures Accessibility with Special Provisions

Key Points:

• Special polling teams to visit eligible voters at their residences

• EC implements measures for maximum accessibility on polling day

JAMSHEDPUR – The Election Commission launches home voting services for senior citizens and differently-abled voters, starting November 3.

Special polling teams will facilitate voting at residences for eligible individuals.

Moreover, this initiative aligns with the Election Commission’s commitment to inclusive voting.

The service caters to voters aged 85 and above.

Additionally, it extends to those with at least 40% disability.

"We aim to make voting accessible to all," remarked an election official.

They added, "No eligible voter should be left behind."

The Election Commission has outlined various provisions for voters with special needs.

Furthermore, these measures ensure maximum accessibility on polling day.

Vehicle arrangements will be available for those requiring transportation assistance.

Meanwhile, wheelchair assistance will be provided at polling stations.

Ramps are being installed to ensure easy access for mobility-impaired voters.

On the other hand, Braille-script ballots will be available for visually impaired individuals.

District Election Officer Ananya Mittal assured comprehensive preparations.

She stated, "We’re implementing all necessary measures for a smooth process."

The initiative reflects the EC’s commitment to fair and inclusive elections.

However, eligible voters are encouraged to inform local authorities if they require home voting.

In conclusion, these efforts aim to increase voter participation across all demographics.
