Jharkhand Bolsters Security for Upcoming Assembly Polls

Police target 63 key Naxalites to ensure peaceful voting

Key Points:

• Jharkhand to vote in two phases on November 13 and 20

• 100 companies of paramilitary forces allocated for election security

• Police focus on neutralizing threat from 63 notorious Naxalites

JAMSHEDPUR – Jharkhand authorities have ramped up security measures as the state prepares for Assembly elections scheduled for November 13 and 20.

The Election Commission has allocated 100 companies of paramilitary forces to the state.

These forces, including CRPF, CISF, BSF, SSB, and ITBP, will be deployed across all 24 districts.

Moreover, Jharkhand Police has intensified its focus on 63 key Naxalites to ensure peaceful voting.

The list of targeted individuals includes notorious figures like Raju Yadav and Gulshan Oraon.

Furthermore, Chaibasa remains the only Jharkhand district among India’s 12 most Naxal-affected areas.

A recent Home Ministry report identified four other districts as Naxal-affected, including Giridih and Gumla.

Meanwhile, police officials express confidence in their ability to prevent Naxal-related election violence.

This optimism stems from their successful strategy during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

On the other hand, authorities remain vigilant, particularly in historically troubled regions.

A senior police official stated, "We’re well-prepared to ensure a smooth and peaceful election process."

The deployment of paramilitary forces aims to bolster existing security measures across the state.

Additionally, local law enforcement agencies are coordinating closely with central forces.

Results of the Assembly elections are scheduled to be declared on November 23.
