Illegal construction and electricity theft uncovered near Ram Madiya Basti

Key Points:

• Nearly one acre of government land found encroached in Adityapur

• Officials halted illegal construction and investigated electricity theft

• Local residents report widespread encroachment issues in the area

JAMSHEDPUR – Local authorities have taken swift action against an illegal construction on government land in Adityapur, uncovering a case of land encroachment and electricity theft.

Nearly one acre of government land was found encroached near Ram Madiya Basti.

The illegal occupants had constructed a large tin shed on the property.

Importantly, the construction was powered by stolen electricity.

Former Ward 18 Councillor Ranjan Singh alerted CO Gamharia, Arvind Kumar Bedia, about the issue.

Bedia promptly intervened on Tuesday morning, halting the ongoing construction.

The individuals responsible for the illegal activity fled before officials arrived.

Moreover, authorities discovered evidence of electricity theft at the site.

Junior Engineer Sanjay Mahato from the Electricity department investigated the theft.

A team arrived around 1 p.m. to confiscate equipment and initiate legal proceedings.

CO Arvind Kumar Bedia announced plans for a thorough investigation into the matter.

He stated that those responsible for the illegal construction would face legal consequences.

Interestingly, local residents claim this is not an isolated incident.

They report widespread encroachments along the road from Kharkai Bridge to Radha Swami Satsang Marg.

Both temporary and permanent structures are allegedly being built on government land.

Residents express concern over the lack of intervention by previous officials.

A local urban planner commented, "This highlights the need for stricter land use monitoring."

The incident has sparked discussions about the effectiveness of local land management policies.

Authorities are now under pressure to address the broader issue of encroachments in the area.

Locals said this case underscores the ongoing challenges of illegal land use and the importance of vigilant enforcement.
