Babar Khan Resigns from JMM Citing Muslim Marginalization

Former leader alleges party’s shift towards ‘Muslim-free’ organization

Key Points:

• Babar Khan resigns from all JMM posts in press conference

• Claims JMM fears ‘appeasement’ label, marginalizes Muslims

• Highlights lack of Muslim representation in key committees

JAMSHEDPUR – Babar Khan, a prominent Muslim leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), has announced his resignation from all party positions, citing concerns over Muslim representation.

Khan held a press conference at his residence on Tuesday to declare his resignation.

He accused the JMM of moving towards a “Muslim-free” organization out of fear of being labeled as appeasers.

Moreover, Khan pointed out the absence of Muslim faces in the recently appointed East Singhbhum district committee.

The 20-point district committee also lacks Muslim representation, according to Khan.

Furthermore, he highlighted the exclusion of Muslim members from the central committee in Jamshedpur West constituency.

This area, Khan noted, has approximately 40% Muslim population.

The former JMM leader criticized the state government’s silence on mob lynching incidents.

He also mentioned the delayed recruitment of hundreds of Urdu teachers in the state.

Additionally, Khan expressed disappointment over the lack of an Urdu Academy despite official language status.

The absence of a Madrasa Board in Jharkhand was another point of contention raised by Khan.

He also noted that the Minority Finance Corporation Commission has not been established.

Khan claimed that hundreds of madrasas in the state still lack government recognition.

The leader referenced communal tensions in Shastrinagar, where mosques, he claimed, were allegedly attacked.

He criticized the JMM’s silence on the arrest of Muslims offering prayers during these riots.

Khan also mentioned the lack of justice for Muslims in the Ranchi riots.

Lastly, he alleged that the recent formation of the Waqf Board was a pre-election tactic to appease Muslims.
