Chess Event Marks Double Celebration at J.H. Tarapore School

International Chess Day and Coach’s Achievement Honored

International Chess Day festivities at J.H. Tarapore School highlight chess’s educational value and recognize coach’s international status.

JAMSHEDPUR – J.H. Tarapore School commemorated International Chess Day with a dual celebration, honoring the global chess community and their coach’s recent accomplishment.

The school grounds buzzed with excitement as students and staff gathered for a special ceremony marking International Chess Day.

A highlight of the event was the recognition of Chess Coach Chandan Kumar Prasad’s recent attainment of International Arbiter status.

Principal Lata Sharat led the festivities, accompanied by Vice Principal Rukshana H.Gardin and Coordinator Anahita F. Zarolia.

The celebration featured a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony, symbolizing the sweet success of chess in the school’s curriculum.

In her address, Principal Sharat emphasized the cognitive benefits of chess, noting its positive impact on students’ intellectual growth.

"Chess is not just a game, but a tool for enhancing academic performance and mental agility," remarked Principal Sharat during the event.

The school’s sports department was well-represented, with Head Sports Coordinator V. Arun Kumar and Sports Teacher Ekta Mandal in attendance.

Fellow coaches Ananto Santra and D.P. Balmiki joined the celebration, showing solidarity with their esteemed colleague.

Several administrative staff members, including Giridhar Gopal and Neelanjana Sarkar Ghosh, were present to support the occasion.

The event underscored the school’s commitment to chess as an integral part of its educational offerings.

Coach Prasad’s achievement was met with enthusiastic applause, reflecting the school community’s pride in his international recognition.

The celebration served as a testament to J.H. Tarapore School’s dedication to fostering both academic and extracurricular excellence.
