High Court Demands Affidavits In Vice Chancellor Appointment Case

Respondents Face Rs 5,000 Fine If Documents Not Filed By July 19

Petition alleges UGC regulations violated in selection process for five universities.

RANCHI – The Jharkhand High Court has asked the respondents to provide affidavits in a case that questions the appointments of Vice Chancellors at five universities, including Jamshedpur Women’s University.

Justice Dr. SN Pathak has issued a warning that a fine of Rs 5,000 will be imposed on each defaulter if counter affidavits are not filed by July 19.

"During the appointment process, the selection committee allegedly overlooked UGC regulations," claims petitioner Anjani Pandey.

The case involves the Vice Chancellors of Jamshedpur Women’s University, Jharkhand State Open University, and three other individuals.

The respondents for this survey include officials from state and central government, registrars from universities, and the UGC.

The Governor, CP Radhakrishnan, has taken action by removing Prof. Sukhdev Bhoi from Binod Bihari Mahato Koylanchal University after receiving complaints.

The petition claims that individuals who do not have the necessary qualifications have been appointed to VC positions.

This case brings attention to the continued examination of appointments in higher education institutions in Jharkhand universities.

The court’s directive highlights how important it is for academic leaders to follow UGC regulations.

The potential impact of the outcome could have implications for university administration throughout the state.
