Adityapur Municipal Corporation Cleans Gamharia Bazaar Drain After 15 Days of Complaints

Residents Relieved as Municipal Corporation Steps in to Address Prolonged Drainage Issue

Adityapur Municipal Corporation addressed a long-standing drainage issue in Gamharia Bazaar by cleaning the main road drain, providing relief to the residents troubled by the overflow of dirty water.

ADITYAPUR – On Tuesday morning, Adityapur Municipal Corporation finally cleaned the drain on the main road of Gamharia Bazaar, bringing relief to residents who had been troubled by dirty water flow for 15 days.

The cleaning operation was carried out with the help of 40 sanitation workers and a JCB from the Municipal Corporation.

For the past 15 days, dirty water from the drain on the main road of Gamharia market had been flowing onto the roads, causing significant inconvenience to the residents.

Municipal Corporation Ward 5 councilor Siddhanath Singh stated that the responsibility for cleaning the main road drain lay with the road construction agency JARDCL, which had neglected this duty for the past two years.

Due to this negligence, dirty water was overflowing and flowing onto the main road, causing severe problems for the locals.

Residents had to travel through smelly water due to the inaction of JARDCL, the Kandra road construction and maintenance company.

The company’s accountable officers remained inactive despite multiple complaints.

The situation near the Durga Puja ground in Adityapur Municipal Corporation Ward 5 was particularly problematic, with continuous flow of dirty water.

Councilor Siddhanath Singh, along with local residents, had repeatedly demanded action against JARDCL from the district’s Deputy Commissioner, but their appeals went unheard.

The road construction company, which has a 15-year maintenance agreement with the state government, had failed to clean the roads and drains regularly.

Executive Engineer of the Road Construction Department had distanced himself from the issue, stating that maintenance was JARDCL’s responsibility.

On the other hand, the, site in-charge of JARDCL, attributed the lack of cleaning to encroachment issues.

The intervention by Adityapur Municipal Corporation has now provided a much-needed respite for the residents.

The community hopes for regular maintenance to prevent future issues.
