JMM’s Supriyo Bhattacharya questions PM Modi’s promises and performance in Jharkhand
Supriyo Bhattacharya, JMM’s Central General Secretary, targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning his promises and performance ahead of Modi’s visit to Moubhandar (Ghatshila) on May 19 in support of the BJP candidate from Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency.
RANCHI – JMM’s Central General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya has raised concerns about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Moubhandar on May 19, where Modi will campaign for the BJP candidate from Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency.
Bhattacharya noted that Modi first became Prime Minister in 2014 and is now visiting Jharkhand towards the end of his term.
He emphasized the significance of Moubhandar, home to Hindustan Copper Limited, which operates from Rakha, Surda, and Musabani Copper Mines.
Bhattacharya criticized the closure of these mines due to government policies, affecting thousands of workers and their families.
"The Prime Minister must remember the promises made by his government," Bhattacharya remarked.
He pointed out that the then Mines Minister Narendra Tomar had assured the reopening of these mines.
For the last decade, local MPs, including current candidates, have failed to deliver on these promises.
Bhattacharya questioned the Prime Minister’s intentions, asking if he would address the struggles of the copper mine workers.
He also highlighted unfulfilled promises, such as the foundation stone laid by former Chief Minister Raghuvar Das for the Dhalbhumgarh airport in 2014, which remains incomplete.
"Why is the Prime Minister visiting now?" Bhattacharya asked, suggesting that people might react angrily to the unfulfilled promises of the past decade.
He urged the Prime Minister to reflect on the work of BJP MP Bidyut Baran Mahato, who has represented Jamshedpur for 10 years.
Bhattacharya pointed out the non-operation of the Ispat Mail at Galudih station and the unfulfilled promise of train services connecting Tatanagar to Bihar.
"For ten years, BJP MPs have spread lies and confusion, leaving farmers and citizens in distress," Bhattacharya stated.
He called on the Prime Minister to atone for his government’s failures in Moubhandar.
Otherwise, Bhattacharya warned, the voters of Jamshedpur would make their voices heard on May 25.
"The people will hold you accountable for the unfulfilled promises," Bhattacharya concluded.
On the other hand, local BJP leaders and members are preparing for Modi’s visit.
An insider from the BJP remarked, "We are confident that the Prime Minister’s visit will strengthen our campaign."
Another leader from BJP commented, "This visit of the Prime Minister is crucial for galvanizing support in the region."
