Jharkhand Congress Considers Banna Gupta for Ranchi, Eyes Caste Dynamics to Boost Election Chances

RANCHI – The Congress leadership may spring a political surprise on Ranchi seat by fielding the state Health Minister Banna Gupta from here as its candidate for Lok Sabha elections.
If everything goes as the sources hint, the name of the candidate for Ranchi seat may be announced by this evening.
The names doing rounds for the Ranchi seat include that of Subodh Kant Sahay, Ramtahal Chaudhary as well as Banna Gupta.
To counter BJP candidate Sanjay Seth’s influence and support base, Banna Gupta may be chosen as Congress candidate by the party leadership as a surprise candidate.
Many in the party feel that the Congress party’s decision to field Banna Gupta for the Ranchi Lok Sabha seat could revitalize its position in the region.
According to reliable sources, the Central Election Committee of Congress has approved Banna Gupta’s candidature, reflecting the party’s strategic approach to this pivotal election.
Gupta, who is presently a minister in the Champai government and represents Jamshedpur West in the state assembly, is seen as a strong contender who could leverage his community’s support to challenge the BJP’s nominee.
The caste factor plays a significant role, with Gupta belonging to the same community as his opponent from the BJP, Sanjay Seth, who comes from the Baniya community.
