Serious Allegations Prompt Inquiry Into Election-Related Violence in Singhbhum
In response to the escalating tension surrounding the alleged assault on BJP MP Geeta Koda and BJP workers in Singhbhum, Ranchi Zone IG Akhilesh Jha personally visited Gamharia police station to oversee the investigation.
SERAIKELA – IG Akhilesh Jha was at the Gamharia police station on Tuesday to delve into the circumstances of the incident involving BJP Lok Sabha candidate and MP Geeta Koda, which occurred on Sunday in Mohanpur village.
He acquired detailed insights into the event and its current investigative status.
During a press interaction, IG Jha emphasized that the investigation was ongoing and refrained from making definitive statements at this stage.
This incident has sparked significant controversy, with MP Geeta Koda accusing JMM workers of assault and hostage-taking, resulting in a case being filed against five villagers and 50 others.
These allegations have been countered by JMM District President Shubhendu Mahato.
Further complicating matters, a counter-case has been lodged by Mohanpur villagers against BJP workers, including Geeta Koda, under the SC-ST Act at the same police station.
Amidst these legal entanglements, MP Geeta Koda has called on the Election Commission to dismiss Seraikela SP Manish Toppo and Gamharia police station in-charge Raju, citing misconduct.
She has also submitted video evidence of the incident to the Election Commission, intensifying scrutiny over the handling of the case.
As investigations proceed, all eyes are now on the Election Commission’s next steps following the IG’s report.
